LJN 8″ S.W.A.T.

Can you remember this fantastic show from the 1970s?? The beginning theme song with the blaring siren, that badass 70s groove, and all of these awesome characters in action ready to save the public from “dem bad guys”? Well this cast of heroes was more than just a great tv show. They were made into an awesome action figure line by the same company that did The Rookies, and Emergency. Accessory sets, a S.W.A.T. Van and some fantastic head sculpts made this very popular back in the day and in modern day for collectors. The bodies, just like The Rookies and Emergency series figures came in three types. The first version is like a Mego type 2 body with swivel biceps and pin jointed wrists and ankles. The second version had ball joints in the wrists and pin jointed ankles and lacks the swivel in the bicep. The third version had ball joints in the wrists and ankles. All versions had white “trunks/underwear” which looked very similar to Mattel’s Big Jim figures.

The Talbot 2 figure ninja series among other cheap companies used the mold for the Hondo head for their figures. The heads were remade into blond, brown and black. The brown headed figure always has a scar with stitches on this left temple: https://mymegolike.com/talbot-8-ninjas/

I believe the way you got it wrote the order is incorrect? The LJN Type 1 is the ball joint hands and feet, as this was used on the Rookies and Emergency figures as well. This was the first version released,
the Type 2 Swivel arm and Mego like ankle feet came second and is more common to the SWAT line as you could not get the figures into sniper position like on the tv show with out it.
this is the second version released.
to date I have not seen or owned any carded Rookie or Emergency figured with anything but ball Swivel hands and feet. All carded SWAT figures I have gotten (white or blue cards) were swivel armed and hinged feet.

Trivia:
Rookies and Emergency figures were released in 1976 four years (the rookies & emergency) after their tv debut.
SWAT figures were released in 1976, six months after their tv series debut.
