Furga started making dolls way back when and eventually moved into the action figure industry later on. One of the most loved lines from Furga for action figure collectors is “OK Mike”. He looks like a combination of Steve Austin with the accessories of Kenner’s Steve Scout and some Big Jim head sculpting. There was an agreement struck at some point between Furga and Kenner. Furga used the 9″ Steve Scout body and accessories repackaged with their own Italian design. The heads were retooled and are sort of a Mattel Big Jim/Kenner Steve Austin design. He came in a box in either a red or blue track suit with matching sneakers which boasted in Italian, “Adventure is his life”. The accessory sets contain the same equipment as Kenner’s Steve Scout. Sometimes they didn’t even bother to take off the Boy Scouts of America logo from the accessories and just packaged them like that anyway. In any case, he was made in Italy and predominantly traveled the lands of Europe. He was sold boxed alone (red or blue), and had numerous accessory kits on bubble cards and in boxes. The boxed sets were just repackages of Steve Scout sets. They took the OK Mike figures and positioned them very similarly to the same Steve Scout packaging photo. The other cool thing about these accessories, is many of them work on manual power or with a battery. check out the photos and see if you don’t love Ok Mike too!
