Shindana 9.5″ Black Celebrity Dolls

The story behind Shnidana Toys is really one worth reading. The company produced action figures that were of famous black Americans and celebrities. The company’s goal was to provide a positive, ethnically correct series of dolls and action figures form 1968-1983 to children to, as the president and CEO of the company Louis Smith said in an Associated Press article, “”We believe that only by learning to love oneself can one learn to love others…Shindana believes that by marketing black dolls and games that both black and white children can learn to relate to at an early age, the company can foster the spirit of what Shindana is all about, love.” In any case, these action figures are absolutely fantastic! Although the plastics are not among the highest quality, the attention to detail just blows one away! Each box has information on the character in the box. All boxes including the “supersets” (an action figure and a bevy of accessories) were window boxes. A great series of action figures to collect!
